James Partridge Outstanding African American Information Professional Award
| Purpose |
|
The James Partridge Award is presented annually to an outstanding African American Information Professional in honor of contributions made to the information profession. |
| Eligibility |
|
A nominee must at the time of nomination, be working in a library, information center, archive, library/information science association, government agency or research center, or in library/information science education.
A nominee must possess a professional degree from an ALA accredited program of library/information science.
|
| Criteria |
|
James Partridge, for whom the award is named, was a true advocate for the right of all people to read and to learn. His life-long dedication was without accolades and the deserved level of recognition.
A nominee must, like James Partridge, exemplify the highest ideals of the library/information profession including, career-long dedicated service, leadership and a commitment to the empowerment of those whom they serve.

Nomination of candidates and selection of the award recipient is made by the James Partridge Award Committee appointed by the University of Maryland, College of Information Studies. |
| Presentation |
|
The award is presented during the University Of Maryland, College of Information Studies Annual Celebration of African American Information Professionals held each February.
The Citizens for Maryland Libraries maintains an investment fund which provides a $250.00 to the award recipient.

|
Each year, the committee chair must receive nominations by November 30th. |

Citizens for Maryland Libraries presents two awards each year in recognition of outstanding achievement that has improved library service and library advocacy in Maryland. The awards are:
Marion Satterthwaite Award
Presented annually by the CML President. Includes a framed certificate, a check in the amount of $100, recognition in the CML Newsletter, on the CML website and in other CML publicity as appropriate
Citeria:
- A history of effort and commitment that has improved service in Maryland Libraries
- A history of effort and commitment that has fostered and sustained library advocacy in Maryland.

Davis McCarn Technology Award

Criteria:
- Given to a library trustee, advocate or paid library staff member for:
- Innovative use of technology to improve library service in Maryland, or
- Innovative use of technology to improve library advocacy in Maryland, or
- Effort and commitment to using existing technology applications to improve library service and library advocacy.

Award process for the Marion Satterthwaite Award and Davis McCarn Technology Award:
- Nominations are made by current and emeritus CML Board members or other interested individuals.
- An Awards Committee of three people reviews the nominations and makes recommendations to the CML Board prior to the Annual Meeting.
- If the proposed nominations are approved by the Board, Award Committee members prepare the presentations.
- The awards are presented by the President at the MLA Annual Conference.
